Capital expenditures in 2023

In 2023, the PGE Group’s capital expenditures (CAPEX) exceeded PLN 10bn (up 43% year-on-year). 

1. Includes construction of new units at PGE Gryfino 2050 and Rybnik 2050

Approx. 53% of expenditure in Conventional Generational, District Heating, Renewables and Other Activity (production capacities) and Distribution and Railway Energy Services was for new projects and approx. 47% for modernisation and repairs.

The construction of two gas-steam units at PGE Gryfino 2050 was the largest ongoing investment project in the PGE Group in 2023. he investment involves the construction of two new gas and steam units with a capacity of 683 MWe each. In 2023, the construction of the gas connection was completed – in July 2023, the operational acceptance of the gas pipeline took place, and in September 2023, the pipeline was gassed. In November 2023, the chemical cleaning process of the Unit 9 plant was successfully completed, while in December 2023 the same process started on the Unit 10 plant. In 2024, the commissioning phase of both units began. On 4 March 2024, block 9 was synchronised with the , block 10 was synchronised with the grid in May 2024.
