Photovoltaics development program
The use of solar energy is expected to complement PGE’s diversified generating portfolio and contribute to the objectives of producing clean electricity and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
In January 2023 PGE Energia Odnawialna received permits for the construction of the following photovoltaic farms with a total capacity of over 100 : Srebrzyszcze, Wrzosów and Żółtańce. A construction permit has also been obtained for the 50 Kleszczów farm, which will be built in the Łódź province.
In March 2023, an agreement was signed with the City of Stalowa Wola and the Euro-Park Stalowa Wola company from the Industrial Development Agency Group. On the basis of this agreement, it will be possible to launch renewable installations with a total capacity of nearly 100 on the premises of the Strategic Investment Park Euro-Park Stalowa Wola. The PGE Group will have at its disposal over 70 hectares of land on which solar power plants with a total capacity of 70 can be launched. In addition, the construction of 7 wind turbines of up to 4 each, a RES service centre and energy storage facilities with a capacity of up to 30 are also under consideration.
September 2023. PGE Energia Odnawialna and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management signed an agreement to co-finance the construction of an 8 photovoltaic power plant. The total cost of the project is PLN 22.2 million and the financing provided is PLN 18.9 million. The aim of the project is the construction of a with a capacity of up to 8 , together with the necessary associated infrastructure, including inverters, transformer stations and internal cable lines connecting the installation components. The investment is planned on the territory of the Szprotawa commune in the Lubuskie voivodeship.
Also in September 2023, construction work was completed on two farms – Gutki and Gutki 2 – with a total capacity of 12 .

The new solar installations were built in the Grajewo district of Podlaskie voivodeship and consist of approximately 22 000 monocrystalline panels. The electricity they generate – approximately 14 ">GWh per year – will power nearly 7 000 households.

In October, in turn, PGE completed in the Podkarpacie region the construction of the first stage of one of Poland’s largest photovoltaic farms – Jeziórko. An installation with a capacity of over 50 was built on plots of approximately 50 ha. At the end of the first quarter of 2024, the farm reached a capacity of 100 and will eventually be expanded to around 220 . The was built in the Grębów municipality about 10 km from Tarnobrzeg.

The technical parameters of the panels will allow high productivity in weather conditions typical of the climatic zones found in Poland. The panels installed at the Jeziórko farm are bifacial. This means that they can absorb light bilaterally, both directly falling on the cell and reflected light reaching from behind. The use of this type of module will increase production by several percent.

November 2023. PGE Energia Odnawialna commissioned two farms – Huszlew i Huszlew 2 – with a total capacity of 13 .The new solar installations were built in the Łosicki district of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship.

The bifacial panels installed on PGE’s new farms will be able to produce more than 13 ">GWh per year, according to estimates. There is also the possibility of expanding the farm to include energy storage.

A total of 45 was commissioned in 2023, , with further projects totalling approximately 355 under development. Projects with a capacity of approximately 1.9 GW were being analysed for potential acquisition opportunities. The PGE Group had also secured approximately 4 000 hectares of land on which to develop further projects.
PGE Energia Odnawialna GE already commissioned the Augustynka with a capacity of 25 in early 2024. The solar power plant was built in the Siemiatycze district of the Podlaskie province.

The electricity produced by it will power more than 12,000 households. At the same time, the Białystok branch of PGE Dystrybucja has completed the construction of the 110kV Augustynka grid switchgear, which will allow power to be derived from the new into the grid.

In February 2024, PGE Energia Odnawialna signed agreements for the construction of 14 photovoltaic farms with a total capacity of 180 . The new installations will be built by 2026 and will be able to supply nearly 90 000 households with green energy. Of all the new farms, the largest are: Kleszczów with a capacity of 50 , Wrzosów with a capacity of 32 , Srebrzyszcze with a capacity of 30 and Jeziórko 3 with a capacity of 30 .
In May 2024, PGE Energia Odnawialna was awarded a licence for the production of electricity from PV Pasterzowice with a capacity of 8 MW
The was built in the Lubuskie Voivodeship, in the Żagań district of the Szprotawa municipality. The installed panels will be able to produce, according to estimates, more than 8 000 per year.
